As the new golf year swings into action it is an ideal time for us to introduce and wish our Junior Captain Ben Whelehan the very best for his year. Ben, we look forward to working with you and know that you will be a fantastic captain for 2022, as you will provide all of our young players with an ideal role model through your sportsmanship and pride in your club.
Our "Golf For All" Programme for young people on the spectrum recommences on Monday 28th of March. This has proven to be a very sought after programme with numerous players developing their skills and now integrating into our mainstream groups for playing and coaching.
While group coaching will be organized throughout the year by the youth committee for various groupings of age, gender or ability, we take this opportunity to advise that individualized sessions may also be arranged privately with our Pro Ken O'Brien, for those who may wish to fast track their development.
The YDA takes pride in announcing that the new chipping green which was identified as a need by Ken will be in use by the summer months. This will add to the array of skills we will be able to develop on the practice ground area. YDA committee sourced the funding from Cloncreen Wind Farm to enable this development. It is important to note that it is a chipping green and not for pitching balls from further out onto it.
Dates for Easter camps. On the 11th and 12th of April we will be commencing our organized events for the year when we welcome our beginner/younger age groups to camp. To any member who may have a child of this age interested please register early. In the following week we have the advanced groups out on the 19th and 20th of the month. We look forward to meeting all of these young people.
Because of the early indicators of a high level of interest we are now making a request for volunteers. To any member who feels they might have even one or two days to give over the summer months please contact Deirdre or Mary, (numbers supplied) and register your interest. We now also send a request for good quality second hand clubs suitable for use by children. Again contact either lady or indeed Ken. Thank you in advance.
On Saturday April 30th there will be a Fundraising Coffee Morning with entertainment provided by the magnificent Eden Chorale. Your support in terms of baking, attending or buying would be greatly appreciated. As the number participating increases the financial pressures rise accordingly. Again Thank You for your support.
